Bahgsu Jewels

Born and raised on the picturesque North Carolina coast, Maggie spent the last ten years bouncing between London and Byron Bay, Bali and Buenos Aires, with many towns and cities in between, searching for inspiration and peace, but thriving on the road.

In 2007, while living in Cardiff, California, she experienced a powerful encounter with a Chrysoprase ring. It’s deep aqua color and subtle energy infused her with a desire to know more. After months of debating whether or not she should quit her “real” job and travel to India, she finally came to a revelation—the nine to five was not for her. She booked a ticket and let fate take hold.

While in India she discovered that Chrysoprase is known for its ability to clarify as well as bring the subconscious to the conscious. She vowed to learn as much as she could about the healing power of stones. Precious and semi-precious rocks have been used for centuries for spiritual, emotional and physical healing. In fact, many gemologists believe stones are the birthplace of the soul. This journey is the inspiration for developing her own unique, handcrafted collection of jewelry.

She founded Bahgsu Jewels (the name being inspired by the Himalayan Indian village & pronounced Bag - sue) when she returned home. Also, upon arriving home she edited down 3 months of footage she shot during her trip into a 7 minute video. Check out the footage below!

Most of the materials Maggie works with are discovered in the distant lands she's traveled through. Some stones come from faraway caves and others are found in her backyard. All pieces are one of a kind and if you listen closely tell a love story. Her recent collection centers around raw, powerful and eclectic stones found all over the globe. They are mounted in a claw of sterling silver and are truly a force of nature.

All of the stones featured in her collection are millions of years old. They are shaped inside the earth when liquid cools and hardens. Minerals within the growth area give them color and create the shape. Amazing to realize that the rocks were created before humans were even on the evolutionary map. This truth helps her to put her life in perspective and fully appreciate every exquisite second.
